CoConspirator’s The Nightcrawler has been an occasional presence at their Brunswick brewpub but during May, a spotlight was shone on the dark figure to let him out of the shadows. It was a rather bright light too, with the beer only going and winning an AIBA trophy for Best Amber/Dark Lager.
So, what impressed some of the most esteemed palates in all the land? Surely, it was the aromas of dark chocolate and toast which then lean into nutty, caramel and biscuity flavours. With a touch of red running through the otherwise black beer, there are hints from the start that The Nightcrawler isn't quite as foreboding as he might at first appear and that’s promise kept thanks to his leaner side, medium body and all-round sessionability.
