Bintani was founded by Pete Meddings in the mid-90s, initially supplying yeast to the local industry, before expanding into a multifaceted supplier of ingredients and brewing aids in partnership with local and international businesses.
Many members of the Meddings family followed Pete – who you can read about in this feature we published on his retirement in 2020 – into the business, which is a longstanding supporter of the beer industry. Formerly known as Hop Products Australia, HPA is the largest hop grower in Australia, backed by a team of experts in plant breeding, farm operations, customer service and brewing support. Their farms in Southern Tasmania and North-East Victoria have been growing hops for more than 150 years. They grow 90 percent of Australia’s hops, which is roughly 2 percent of hops grown around the world.
