Lately, the Beerfarm brewers have been experimenting with different hops in their Metricup brewery, with one result the appearance in early autumn of two distinct, limited release IPAs in quick succession.
Cryo Mountain IPA walks a fine line between hazy East Coast and meaner West Coast while also showcasing punchy Cryo hops to yield a vibrant, juicy beer. The Sabro, Ekuanot and Idaho 7 Cryo hops, plus hyped new blend Cryo Pop contribute bold, overripe stonefruit and zesty citrus that dominate the aroma and palate, while some gentle sweetness and a modest bitterness ensure balance. What you're left with is a highly crushable, and full-flavoured IPA with a super-clean finish.
Nectaron IPA, on the other hand, is loaded with the recently-christened and well-backed Nectaron hops. Straight out of New Zealand, they offer up a strong tropical influence, exhibiting grassiness, passionfruit and sweet stonefruits as well as citrus aromatics. The bitterness is bold but well-placed alongside the 6.5 percent ABV, while a crystal clear pour is reminiscent of the IPAs of days gone by.
