Growing up in South Gippsland, I had a deep resentment of the The Valley. The Latrobe Valley that is, a place where their football teams were always better than ours, their towns were big enough to still have trains and they even had "Hungry Jacks". But Good Land Brewing have helped take away any negative resentments I had associated with the region thanks to their beers, including Valley IPA.
The core range beer is a fair shade darker than than many modern takes on the style, with the malt-driven IPA pouring a deep amber like a classic that's been plucked out of Sierra Nevada. On the hop front however, things are a little more modern with a touch of pine and citrus joined by a tropical edge as the tightly-wound bitterness comes through on the finish. Straight from the Valley? I can get around it I guess...
