Fruit can be found in many forms when it comes to beer. There’s the very literal, which is what we have with Good Land’s Pastel Neon Sour, an ongoing series where a wide mix of fruit is thrown into one sour. How do they come up with the right combo? We can only assume it's thanks to either heavy smoothie consumption or teenag years working at Boost (or a combination of the two) and ahead of summer, the picks are white peaches, passionfruit and raspberry. The beer pours with a pastel golden glow which is exactly the hue I would choose for a banana lounge and pool-side table combo to go next to my swimmming pool if I had one. The white peach is fresh and pithy, the passionfruit rich and zippy and the raspberry is a little tart that ties into the beer's lasting acidity. In other words: enjoy it by the pool if you've got one.
But sometimes beer is more about the essence of fruit, like in the case of Blauweisse. The classic hefeweizen was brewed as part of Good Land’s Oktoberfest celebrations and is filled with fresh and figurative banana that leads the aroma and flavour. That’s joined by clove, a wider spice and a full mouthfeel which makes it come across like as suitable summer a sipper as Neon Pastel (and really makes me want to find one).
