They might be super fresh at the time of writing but Blackman’s Brewery are looking back with two hoppy releases.
Continuous IPA was brewed with the crew at Hop Heads and launched across their three Melbourne venues on International Beer Day. The beer was inspired by one of craft beer’s classic IPAs, Dogfish Head’s 60 Minute IPA which sees American hops added to the boil over the course of an hour. For the brewery and venue alike, they wanted to pay homage to the much-loved beer and they’ve kept their collab close to its inspiration, with both America’s Citra and Falconer’s Flight leading the charge and joined by Motueka (with the last of those coming at the insistence of a Hop Heads team member). Like IPAs of old, there’s a bit of malt character bringing some biscuit to an otherwise very dry beer that’s filled with flavours of white grape, resin, pine and a substantial bitterness.
That's joined by the returning Angry Reg; a longstanding double IPA thats made with Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe. This year, the beer marks the brewery’s ninth birthday and once again, it’s a big and bitter American classic filled with oily citrus, dank pine, berry and herbal undertones.
