Tropical fruits might claim more of the limelight these days, but it’s still hard to go past citrus-forward, hoppy beers. Blackman's Brewery’s steady stream of IPAs are never short on such flavours but here's they’ve decided to turn the citrus up to 11 with their Blood Orange IPA.
Naturally, they partnered freshly squeezed fruit with a couple of American hop favourites in Citra and Cascade and kept it at a sessionable 5.5 percent ABV to make it something of an everyday IPA (as if the team at Blackman's needs any encouragement to make an IPA each day).
Pouring with a golden amber hue, it's not only an IPA loaded with juice but there's also much of the classic West Coast about it, with a substantial line of pine before the waves of distinctive, slightly sweet blood orange kick in and crash against a building bitterness.
