Molly Rose Brewing have recently (last night at the time of writing) opened their Chefs Table and with it, they’re bringing excellent food and beer together in a way that’s rarely - if ever - been seen in Melbourne. It’s a fitting thing for a brewery that’s made beers that so seamlessly match with food since day one and Double Squished follows that impressive list of beers.
The beer is a skin contact ale made with Moscato Giallo and shiraz. It spent a year aging on 2022 Little Brunswick Moscato Giallo and was then introduced to shiraz skins from Beyond The Glass’ 2023 harvest. It's as good a use as previously-used grapes as you'll find and brings a gripping sourness with fruit notes of white grape, pear with rosewater and strawberry. Better yet, it feels like a beer that could work with any number of dishes and fortunately, Molly Rose now has the space to do it.
