No tea leaves? Zero grape skins or backyard lemons? Above 8.0 percent ABV? What parallel world have we woken up in to find Molly Rose Brewing making a double IPA? This wouldn't pair with oysters or whatever they serve in that fancy restaurant*. Interlaced isn’t just any double IPA either, with the 8.4 percent ABV West Coast one that's packed with a global mix courtesy of Centennial, Nelson Sauvin, Idaho 7, Eclipse and Galaxy hops.
The beer’s slightly amber hue is a hint towards the light malt sweetness on the palate but, otherwise, it’s a beer that’s very much all about the hops. There’s a resin and citrus combination that can only be described as being aromatically identical to dropping a pinecone that’s been wrapped in orange peel onto a grapefruit - which is also known as a great weekend.
Joining in are nectarine and passionfruit, while a battery-soaked bitterness coats the tongue like the West Coasts of days gone by. Sure, it might be the very first DIPA from Molly Rose, but if you're a fan of classics with layered hop notes, then you'll certianly hope it's not the last.

*Actually it would, although it would do much better with some stuffed chicken wings.
