For winter 2023, Molly Rose brewed a tribute to their favourite four-legged friends by the name of Grubby Paws. As the mud returns to Melbourne, they're once again celebrating the reality of being a dog owner but, this time around, it's two very large dogs from the Molly Rose community that are serving as models – you'll find them here – and they've gone bigger on the booze in crafting a strong dark lager.
Once again, the beer has the feel of a German classic, with Big Paws providing a noble hop mix of spice and floral tones that are quickly muddied by chocolate, roasted espresso and liquorice notes as the bitterness builds. Although somewhat lean and dry, there's also a lasting richness that, like dirty paws on a carpet, tends to stick around.
