Who can say where the road goes?
Where the day flows?
Only time.
These are the words that washed over me like a dirge as I cracked open the final entry in the Slipstream’s West Coast Tour series.† I’m sad it’s time for this series to reach its final destination. But it’s a strong finish [One that gained a top five finish at our Queensland vs Australia IPA Blind Tasting event too – Editor].
Washington, the state that gave rise to Hendrix, Nirvana and Macklemore, is also the home of Yakima hops. And it's in tribute to those that Slipstream have stuffed this IPA with Strata, Simcoe, Mosaic and Columbus, which bring a rounded resinous and citrusy whomp. A nice, level dankness settles into a carpet of pine needles on an earthy floor.
By the time this beer lays its lingering coating of pithy and piney bitterness over the tongue, the flavours are familiar and surprisingly easy-going.
