Breweries might largely get to decide which beers they brew but sometimes working out what’s in a core range is a little more complex. There can be moments when limited releases prove so popular that they’re drawn to a more permanent spot, with their fame growing so great that you can’t let them disappear for very long at all. Bonehead Brewing’s Almost Famous is such a beer, with the somewhat unusual combination of pomegranate and lime so popular the sour is allowed to share a ride on the core range tour bus.
Crack a can and you might well be surprised just how well two fruits work together too, with both the lime and the pomegranate seeming to provide a heavy note of zest that plays well with the beer’s mild acidity. You’ll also find quite a sweet citrus hit of lime that invokes key lime pie while the pomegranate flavour is akin to biting into a fresh one without the nuisances of getting the flesh from those little seeds stuck between your teeth.
