They aren’t short of friends at Bonehead Brewing, with the brewery frequently catching up with their industry pals for a spot of collaboration. Mega Powers brings Melbourne’s inner west and the inner north together, with Bonehead partnering with Clifton Hill Brewing for a West Coast pale ale. It’s a 4.9 percent ABV beer that’s filled with a lot of bold hop notes with pine and grapefruit rind leading the charge and joined by a layer of fresh berries and a bite of bitterness.
Meanwhile, Down With The Ship crosses the Yarra, with Bonehead Brewing teaming up with Armadale’s Otter’s Promise to brew a Californian Common. It’s a relatively unseen style in Australia that's also known as a steam ale (come to think of it: one Melbourne brewery used to be very well known for one) and uses lager yeast that’s fermented at warmer, more ale-like temperatures. This collaboration pours a deep and golden amber while providing a fresh mix of toffee, pine and citrus with a big bitter finish. It makes for a perfectly well balanced beer that makes you wonder that if you had to drown in any liquid, a Cali Common might be as good as it gets.
