Thanks to their typically piney tones and bitterness, California IPAs tend to be a bit of a throwback in our modern world world of juice and heavy haze. But Bonehead Brewing have taken their California IPA further back, drawing inspiration from California Games, a classic of late 80s gaming that, despite its age, would still be a wonderful way to burn a few hours (I don’t know for sure: I’m too scared to download it on my phone and becoming hooked for the third time in my life). But this beer certainly won't last you hours, with the balance between it's lean and bitter side and fresh nectarine, resin, orange lollies and bubblegum all helping it disappear in the glass in mere moments
Speaking of throwbacks, Call Of The Cult is a demonic drop that shares its own touch of the pop culture. The beer gose was a collaboration with the folks at Boomstick Glassware and Beerstagram's own Hazy Squid and while Cthulhu might be a creature of darkness, the beer itself is a deep red hue. It's also little sweeter than I always imagined Cthulhu to be, with rich berry leading the way and joined by a refreshing tartness and touch of salt.
