April has been a busy month for Bright Tank with cans flying out of the East Perth brewery at a rate of knots. Among them is the Assalted Passionfruit Gose, brewed in collaboration with Rocky Ridge (well, there is a y in the day) and featuring fresh passionfruit purée in the fermenter and a healthy dose of black Himalayan salt to boot.
As you'd expect, the beer is a thirst-quencher ideal for warmer weather – so it's lucky Perth is experiencing a later winter this year – in which salty and sour are well balanced, and the passionfruit is there but not overly prominent.
Joining the collab is Bright Tank’s 2019 GABS Festival Beer, for which Matt Moore decided to go troppo, brewing a double NEIPA with mango for extra body and sweetness. Troppo Season is a tribute to the wet season and its tendency to send people a little loopy in The Tropics and after a couple of these you might feel the same way.
The mango melds with the El Dorado hops to enhance the tropical flavours, while rolled oats assist the creaminess and mouthfeel of a beer in which there's minimal perceived bitterness. This is a big, hazy number that will likely be a hit at GABS.
