A thick marshmallowy head, ruby highlights and beautiful tan lacing - this beer is for the eyes as much as it is for the belly.
As the name suggests, this is brewer Eddie’s take on a Schwarzbier. Midnight wheat brings that dark colour with ruby highlights, and classic American hops - Cascade - fill out the bitterness. It’s rolling with gentle notes of dark roast coffee, and opens up with a touch of chocolate as creeps up towards room temperature. But like any good dark lager, it doesn’t make it easy to leave it to warm up; this beer invites you to get stuck into it straight away. Maybe get two at the same time, so the second one at least has half a chance.
And if you see Eddie around the brewery, run up to him and say, “Hey! You’re Eddie - the guy on the can!”
