On a clear day, you can see the thirteen Glass House Mountains from the deck at Scarborough Harbour Brewing. Of course, there are plenty of days where the air is hazy and you can’t make them out. It’s at those times that it makes sense to bring the thirteen hills to you - Thirteen Hills XPA, that is.
The beer is slightly hazy itself, but you can still make out the steady rush of bubbles rising to the surface to join the dense head. A loose mix of citrus, tropicals and pine aromas greet you as you lift the beer to your lips, but it gets more distinct at the first sip - the flavour grows into a wash of passionfruit and bitter orange. The feel is light and dry, the bitterness is a lingering tingle, and the experience is brief.
You’ll want more than one. But maybe pull up before you get to thirteen.
