In 1971, a light plane crashed in Moreton Bay, and the crew of a trawler called Hercules rescued the pilot (and what was left of her plane) and brought her safely to shore. Fifty years later, the grandson of the trawler’s owner painted a mural on the back wall of Scarborough Harbour Brewing Co to commemorate the scene. Meanwhile, the brewery named a beer after the trawler - Hercules Hazy IPA.
Since this beer shares a name with a heroic trawler and a super-strong demigod, there’s no need to expect subtlety. Huge breakfast juice vibes flood the nose right from the start, sweet and flavourful and in-your-face. A smooth malt profile and grain finish carry the hop flavours, but a gentle alcohol warmth keeps the strength in your mind so you don’t accidentally slam a few glasses in a row without noticing.
Tastes like a refreshing dip in the ocean. (Just a lil’ bit of plane-crashing-into-the-bay humour there for ya.)
