Every year, Mismatch fans wait in anticipation for the release of their autumn seasonal, Evil Archie's Red IPA. In 2020, the beer again proved to be incredibly popular, selling out online in no time at all. However, to keep their lineup fresh and invigorating, the Mismatch crew decided to put this particular beer on the shelf for the foreseeable future. Instead, to honour Evil Archie's, they decided to make it even more wicked, malevolent and sinful, adding a double dry hop to proceedings.
Still devilishly 6.66 percent ABV, Super Evil Archie's kicks off with Super Pride and Centennial in the boil, then Cascade and Simcoe in the whirlpool, Cascade, Simcoe, Centennial and Columbus in the first dry hop and Cascade, Simcoe and Centennial again in the second dry hop.
Pouring a vibrant light red to dark amber colour and crystal clear, sweet, clean fruit bowl like aromas bound out of the glass: grapefruit, orange citrus and rockmelon combining with characters of pine, grassiness, floral and resin. The sticky toffee and light caramel of Evil Archie's forms the backbone for the hops to sing, with rockmelon doing most of the work on the palate, alongside some orange and a little resin, before finishing on the sweeter side.
Rest well, Evil Archie's, you will be missed.
