Over their 25-year history, Holgate have employed countless brewers and today, you’ll find many of them to be out innovating in breweries of their own. As part of the 25 Years of Beers series they're releasing throughout 2024, Holgate are brewing are brewing beers both old and new that celebrate their impressive history. Entry number four is Entwined; a collaboration with Molly Rose founder Nic Sandery who started at Holgate around a decade ago and led the creation of the brewery’s first-ever kettle sour, Hop Tart.
Entwined itself is a very Nic Sandery and Paul Holgate beer, with the mixed culture rye saison brewed at Holgate, blended with a mix of stock ales from Molly Rose’s collection and featuring a raft of different years and bacteria. As a result, it’s an incredibly complex creation that gives off tones of orange peel, spice, funky yeast fenolic notes and flavours that are remeniscient of fruit cake. Having said that, the beer's incredibly dry and bitter while a hefty palate weight entwines all those elements into one balanced beer.
