Dainton have settled into winter with two very different dark drops.
A Dark, Dark Lager was made with Wollongong’s Seeker Brewing, who presumably didn’t cycle all the way down to Melbourne for the collab like the can suggests.* The dark lager was brewed with German malt and New Zealand hops Nelson Sauvin, Motueka and Wakatu, which bring ripe tropical fruits to a beer that's packed with roasted espresso, nutty chocolate and liquorice notes that meet with a clean finish.
Also out from Dainton during these dark times is Whisky Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout. It started life 12 months back as the brewery’s popular Darklord Imperial Stout which was be tucked away in American oak barrels that had previously housed Clare Valley cabernet sauvignon. Like a whole host of big dark beers from the brewery, it’s a finely tuned affair filled with lashings of burnt sugar, caramel, whisky and dark chocolate.

*On closer inspection, it appears to be Batman outrunning the Grim Reaper and I must say, there's just something about Batman that makes it hard to believe he'd ride a bike. The Grim Reaper on the other hand, I can believe.
