Stomping Ground & Heartbreaker Piney Dancer IPA

The local beer world's naming game is strong at the minute, with this beer created by Stomping Ground and Melbourne good time joint Heartbreaker bearing one of the best puns around – one that anyone who's spent time enjoying the DJs and jukebox at the CBD bar will appreciate works on many levels.

Focusing on the Piney of the title, the beer is a pineapple IPA. Like the Collingwood brewery's recent collab with BentSpoke – the Bentstomper citrus IPA – it drinks far more easily than you'd expect from a beer above 6 percent ABV and bearing the IPA tag. There's not too much in the way of bitterness; what this pale 'n' hazy drop has in abundance, however, is pineapple character thanks to the juice added to the mix. It lends some sticky, juicy sweetness to the mouthfeel then hangs around once the rest of the experience has passed, presumably waiting for the (pine?) needle to drop on one more classic.
