The Mill Brewery Super Fruits

Did you know a fruit bat can eat about 2.5 times their body weight in fruit each night? I didn’t until this beer from The Mill appeared, but I always had my suspicions due to the fact I never got to enjoy a single nectarine or fig from the backyard of my old rental. In tribute to that impressive commitment to the fruit trees of the world, the Melbourne brewery created Super Fruits, a sour with the somewhat unlikely pairing of strawberry and yuzu.

Fortunately, it’s a combination that does wonders together due to just how well they marry, and I’d argue (at the risk of putting all the strawb and yuzu stans offside) results in something that’s better than the sum of its parts. The yuzu provides citrus that's incredibly fragrant and picks up grapefruit's tart astringency and the sweetness of a mandarin or orange, as strawberry throws down yet more sweetness.
