Poang-gurk. Panaryle. Mentha australis. Native river mint. Wild mint. Whatever you call it… it’s in this beer.
Reckless aren't strangers when it comes to using native Australian ingredients in their beers – they’ve put strawberry gum into one and finger lime in another – and here they’ve used local river mint from the team at Naway Yila Buradja. Paired with lime, it hints at the cool, refreshing blast of sipping a mojito in a hammock.*
Menthol freshness hits the nostrils straight up, but it's that first sip that really brings the coolness, like a collaboration between Ice-T, Ice Cube and LL Cool J.** A lime cordial zestiness soon hits, then the beer chops and changes between lime flavour and mint flavour for the duration of the drink, almost as if the two can't occupy the same space at the same time. But it definitely nails the brief of "crisp, tart and refreshing".
By the time you’re finished, your breath is fresher than when you started. Find someone who wants a kiss.

*Reckless didn’t say anything about a hammock. That’s just me dreaming of a laid back beach holiday in Cuba. **Alas, there hasn’t been one yet. But I firmly believe such a collaboration would be single-handedly responsible for ending global warming.
