First released in 1958, Witch Doctor’s (the song, not this particular beer) appeal surely outlived what anyone expected at the ti,e. The nonsense tune was a number-one hit when released but those wild lyrics might be better known to you from the cover version and even weirder music video by the Cartoons (which is a useful reminder that the 1990s remains the most disturbing decade when it comes to pop culture). It’s a true earworm that sticks around long after the song finishes and although it’s not here forever, Ocean Reach's Witch Doctor is a classic from the Phillip Island brewery.
Fortunately, Witch Doctor II is not an impossibly old IPA that’s been brought back to life and is instead a DDH followup to an earlier hazy. This time around, they've turned up the hops with the soft and lush IPA heavy on the Citra, Amarillo and Cashmere for big hits of tangerine, orange juice, melon and a touch of coconut.
