The first time Bright Brewery embarked on a Spring Fling, they layered the passionfruit so heavily we felt you could easily believe you had a tangy fruit sour in your hands rather than a fruited pale. As Spring Fling returns – this time in can rather than bottle – the balance has swung back in favour of "pale ale". The passionfruit is much more subdued, leaving you with an easy-going modern pale with a dash rather than coating of passionfruit.
The brewery's Sweetart series has hit number six and here they've done a sweep of the grocer's, with guava, kiwifruit, strawberry, passionfruit and mango in the mix for Fruit Cocktail. It pours far brighter than you’d expect from such a mélange and also has the most noticeably sour character of the series to date, in part down to the prominence of the mango. It's sharper on the palate thanks to the impact of the berries and citrus, although with so much blended together you don’t really need to pick it apart, just know you've got a refreshing little fruit sour in your hand.
