Much like the decorations, it feels like Christmas beers come earlier and earlier each year. Maybe that's in part thanks to the many advent calendars out in the world but it seems like a smart move too: get in early and ensure people start stockpiling alongside their festive shopping. Having said all that, Bright Brewery’s Peach And Vanilla Sour isn’t labelled a Christmas beer and nor does it mention the big day either but if you wanted a beer to pair with your pav, you’d be hard pressed to find a better fit.*
Effectively, this is the beer equivalent of eating peaches and cream, provided those supplied white peaches were suitably tart. That sourness helps aid in the 4.0 percent ABV beer's sessionability but at the same time, there's quite a thickness to its body for a beer that's a little rich, creamy and light all at once. You can keep your Christmas pud and Belgian beers - this is a pairing for Australian summer.

*I recognise that pavlova can be made with a mix of summer fruit but in my family, peach was always given a staring role.
