Sailors Grave's Lemon Meringue Cream Sour is one of very few beers in their lineup – whether that's year-round or limited release – to use a description of what's in the can for its name. So, obviously, when they decided to create a double-the-strength, nitro-boosted version of that beer they went with, um, Hercules & Amalfi Forever. Ah, Sailors Grave... don't go changing!
That said, while they may have decided to reference one of Roman mythology's classic "zesty" love stories here, the liquid is more recognisably a relative of the OG mid-strength. Once you've given it a good jiggle, poured with intent into your glass, and let the bubbles finish cascading, you have a cloudy orange liquid in front of you whose murky appearance is in direct contrast to the sprightly lemon zest waiting within.
The creamy, vanilla-tinged, biscuity sweetness is there but the lemon leads the way, with a touch of prickly acidity helping cut through the booze like the tang of the filling in a lemon meringue pie. And that's no myth.
