Bridge Road & The High Country Brewers Rule 47: Red IPA

Red IPA

Australia boasts many good beer regions but Victoria’s High Country has long shown that more breweries can make even a stunning part of the world a better place to visit. For a decade, the local breweries have banded together to bring more tourists into the region and each year, they celebrate their backyard and camaraderie with one collaboration.
Rule 47 is a beer that also champions their local hops and the many trails that connect each brewery, with the beer named for a special bike rule: Drink Tripels, don’t ride triples. For the tenth incarnation of the beer, they went to the region’s longest-established craft brewery, Bridge Road Brewers, to make a red IPA that pours a deep and burnt red and has an underlying malt richness of caramel and toffee. Those High Country hops meanwhile bring rockmelon, ripe pineapple and resinous pine that carries into a building bitterness.
