Another year brings another Magnificent Mullet from Moon Dog, with the Melbourne brewery showing they’re yet to run out of puns or celebrities with Sharon Stone Fruit Sour Ale. This time around, it’s not just one of the greats in 1990s cinema who has a chance to shine but nectarine and peach too and while this might be overly anecdotal, there’s been some very good examples of both this season (fruit that is, not 90s movies).
The beer seems to capture multiple expressions of stone fruit at once by providing a mix of nectarine cake, peach sorbet and a tart smoothie that features both. It seems then that the only way you could capture more in the can is by enjoying it with a mix of peach and nectarine sliced up in the glass. You should consider it - they’re really quite good at the moment.
Also fresh from the brewery is the return of their Future Is Bright Solar Powered IPA, this time in 330ml cans. If you're reading this in time, it’s launching on January 28 at Moon Dog Abbotsford, with details of the event here.
