As with basically every single corner of social media, Untappd can be an dark and brooding place. It’s an arena where extremes tend to get all the attention, and that's true when talking about the beers or the reviews themselves. It means there's precious little room for life’s humbler and more subtle moments – such as the release of a lager.
It's point Melbourne's AVNGE Brewing have cheekily had some fun with in an early entry into 2024's best beer names (and certainly one of its longest): Best Lager I've Ever Had, But I Don’t Like Lagers.
The can design includes plenty of references to the world of beer reviewing, including a quite literal review bomb being dropped, but the liquid inside is far less explosive. Instead, the crisp and clean beer pours with a golden hue and absolute clarity as the flavours move betweeen biscuit, freshly-baked bread, soft spice and a gentle touch of sulphur.
