When supplementing their small, selective core range, the Uraidla brewers like to keep things fresh with a series of seasonally-evolving hoppy pale and IPA releases. And summer 2023/34 is no different, this time taking the shape of Solar Eclipse: a 5 percent ABV pale ale that uses pale, caramunich, munich and oats to support a trio of big NZ hops, namely Superdelic, Nelson Sauvin and Nectaron.
In typical Uraidla fashion, Solar Eclipse is another extremely well-executed juicy pale. Pouring a bright yellow, it's quickly evident this is a pale ale rather than IPA due to its lighter mouthfeel and greater drinkability. The Kiwi hops contribute juicy orange citrus accompanied by some pineapple, passionfruit, and berries.
The beer strikes a fine balance between, never becoming too sweet or extra dry, while the bitterness is restrained. Another classic Uraidla pale ale; another classic showcase of modern NZ hops.
