If you like piña coladas
And drinking beers by that name.
If you like smells of yoghurt,
But your acidity tame.
If you like big juicy pineapple
With some coconut flakes,
All smoothed out with some Sabro…
That’s what Sunday Road makes.*
Ahem. That was Samba Pina Colada. Now, back to our regular programming…
After a strong fan response to last year’s fruity oat cream release, Sunday Road have brought out a follow-up: Cronullafornication Season 2. This time it’s a hazy IPA chockablock with Cryo hop versions of El Dorado and HBC630.
While I didn’t pick up the red-berry-creaminess that people often claim for HBC630, the hops came together to bring this lovely mang-paya-napple tropical combo that embraces you with a quite easydrinking experience. Rather than being a big wave that bowls you over, it’s like one that washes in, swirls around your chest, and washes out again. And to keep the beach thing going (this beer is named for Cronulla, after all), the wave brings with it a constant soft foam and a slowly fading afternoon sunlight.

*For those keeping track at home, this isn’t the first time I’ve referenced the song Escape in a Sunday Road beer write-up. But I obviously couldn’t pass up this opportunity to do a Mick special (write-a-poem-instead-of-doing-my-job-like-a-normal-person).
