‘Crisp and clean’ is often used to mean ‘low alcohol and low flavour’. But not here.
Electric Avenue is the latest Sunday Road Cold IPA, and it’s - completely unsurprisingly - a good drop. It’s yellow and bright and does many things right, with its pale base letting the Cryo Amarillo, Cryo Ekuanot and Sabro Lupomax sing loud and proud.
Soft and sweet pineapple syrup is set off with the vibrant bitter bite of orange peel, while a touch of melon and bubblegum ride in with a hint of the creaminess that Sabro brings. I’m sure I’ve compared beers to Starburst Chews before*, but there’s that lovely sweet fruity character here, though none of the sugariness that leaves you with sticky fingers and a tummy ache when you eat too many.**
At the finish, there’s just enough flavour from the booze to remind you that this isn’t a light beer, no matter how easily it goes down. Makes you wanna shout, “Oi!”***

*It turns out I have. Twice. I’ll let you find those references yourself.
**You might get a tummy ache if you drink too many cans of Electric Avenue.
***Google insists the first lyric in this song is “Boy!”, but I’ve listened to it several times now and I insist that it’s “Oi!”
