Deeds Brewing have leaned into the cooler weather with some dessert-inspired beer. Having said that, Ripple Effect takes me to the beach and the all-important ritual of buying an ice cream post-swim. The nod to nostalgia is an imperial cream sour made with raspberry, banana, vanilla and lactose which all make for a rich, fruit-heavy and creamy beer with a sourness that cuts through as well as a crisp waffle cone.
Moving into far darker territory, Peanut Butter Imperial Stout is an intensely rich pastry stout that is akin to butting straight into the centre of a Reese’s peanut butter cup. But while it might be sweet and big, it’s surprising how well it holds onto its centre of gravity and whether it's thanks to brewer skill or drinker hedonism, it's truly remarkable how easy it is to drink the whole can.
If those aren’t quite enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, then Deeds also have a barrel-aged version of Peanut Butter Imperial Sout, which you can read about here.
