Shedshaker is the new name for the Castlemaine based brewery formerly known as Castlemaine Brewery. Wilson & Market is the multi-faceted Prahran Market based café, restaurant, wine bar, function space and food & wine store. And Gone Troppo is the name of a seasonal summer ale created by the pair.
It's a pale drop hopped with Vic Secret and Galaxy that we're told give the drinker "tropical pineapple and passionfruit aromas ... with a background of pine and citrus" as well as "a subtle tart pineapple flavour with malty sweetness and crisp finish".
Given it's been brewed to pour at Wilson & Market, the venue has created other goodies to go with it, not least a garnish of wood BBQ pineapple, which certainly offers a twist on sticking a slice of lime in your beer. They've also lined up a new wood-fired flat bread topped with fava bean puree, prosciutto and asparagus to accompany it and a Troppo cocktail based upon a Mai Tai for non-beer drinkers. The beer is a one-off batch for summer but discussions are underway for a winter brew featuring seasonal ingredients too.
