Sydney breweries Frenchies and Hopsters return to the ring with two new additions to their Cool Kids collaboration series which explores single hops and various IPA incarnations.
In the red corner (aka the black and white can) is Volume 25; a hazy IPA jacked up on performance-enhancing Mosaic Incognito hops, a concentrated hop syrup designed for more flavour and less vegetal mass in the kettle. Dark amber and low-viz in the glass, it comes out kicking with a hoppy flurry of freshly-cut orange and bright berry. Throw in a juicy body and zesty bitterness on the finish and this is one delicious drop you’ll want to spar with.
In the blue corner (that is, the green can) is Volume 26; Tropical Citrus Berry Oat Cream IPA which is a mouthful in more ways than one. Pouring the colour of Frosty Fruits, this hazy heavyweight hits the nose and mouth with a bold combo of sharp grapefruit, peach and guava before landing a big bitey bitterness to close the show.
