At the very close of 2023, Carwyn Cellars’ box of surprises, their Canvent, had an extra secret inside. They’d asked TWØBAYS Brewing to see if they could make a gluten-free beer that would appeal to the craft beer drinkers enjoying their box of beer without them spotting that it was made without barley or any other grain with gluten in it. The brewery’s answer was Broader Horizon Hazy IPA and not only did people like it, they loved it so much that TWØBAYS decided to brew the country’s first gluten-free hazy IPA again.
Not only does the Hazy IPA’s lack of barley and oats make it a novel way to make juicy beers but the brewery also decided to add more modernity by using a relatively new hop we don’t hear about much, Vista. It's an American hop known for its tropical and stone fruit qualities so it seems like a perfect fit for such a beer, while TWØBAYS also added some hazy favourties in Mosaic and Strata. It means the soft and golden beer is filled with OJ, stonefruit and plenty of tropical tones, while the beer's juicier side is balanced out by a very slightly bitter landing.
