When I was first getting into craft beer, it took me a while to deal with the bitterness of American pale ales, and I was absolutely NOT ready to step into the world of IPAs. When I discovered the malty goodness of amber ales, the world of beer opened up to me.
Nectar is a wonderful entry in the style, smelling like butterscotch puddin' and candied citrus. It invites the hops to bring in sticky ripe tropicals and spiciness as it goes on, but returns to its malty roots in the finish; burnt toffee bitterness is happy to slap you around a bit at the end.
Nectar holds a special place in the hearts of the Future Magic crew, since it’s the first beer they brewed on their kit in East Brisbane. It may also secretly be Sean’s favourite beer. Don’t tell the other beers.
