A Listing A Day

As the craft beer scene in Australia continues to evolve at a rate of knots, more and more bars and bottleshops are turning over their fridges and taps to the good stuff, while new breweries and brewing companies continue to add colour to an already vibrant scene. It’s awesome for the discerning drinker yet poses a challenge to The Crafty Pint. It’s a good challenge, mind you, namely: how to keep up?

Every week we receive enquiries from brewers and venue owners keen to have their venture listed in our directories, so from today we’re setting ourselves the challenge of adding a new one each day until Good Beer Week kicks off. This should clear the backlog of those who’ve been waiting patiently and set us up for a fresh tour of the country once the festival is over to visit those we’re yet to frequent.

The lineup for this impending set of additions is a colourful cross-section of the current Aussie craft beer scene, featuring treasure troves in the most unlikely of spots, bars who’ve transformed themselves from dreary old bitter pubs into thriving venues, Australia’s first ever canning craft brewery and a place we’ve heard described as “the future of craft beer in Australia”.

First up today is Cellarbrations at Willagee in Perth, a bottleshop run by guys with decades in the business who decided to dip their toes into craftier waters and have never looked back, with a steadily growing selection of beers that favour their home state and a growler system that keeps thirsty regulars happy. It’s the first listing compiled by one of our newest contributors, Max Brearley; he’s one of three quality, knowledgeable writers that has helped us put together this most recent raft of listings – click on their initials at the end of each piece if you’re looking for some good beer folks to follow on Twitter.

As for the future, any brewery, venue or bottleshop owners keen to find out more about having a page created for you on The Crafty Pint can drop us a line at crafty@craftypint.com. We’re putting together a new document outlining what it entails that should be ready to roll before Good Beer Week. The same goes for anyone interested in advertising on the site too.

Next up tomorrow: Tippler’s Tap in Brisbane.
