Disco Monks From Outer Space

Disco Monks From Outer Space

To celebrate the relaunch of our beer club, The Crafty Cabal, we got together with our good mates at Fixation and Molly Rose to brew a one-off beer for members.

Disco Monks From Outer Space is an extravagantly-hopped saison / kveik co-ferment we're calling a Cosmic Farmhouse IPA. It's also as genuine a collaboration as you could wish for: the wort was brewed at Fixation's Incubator taproom then wheeled down a Collingwood street via pallet jack to be fermented and dry-hopped at Molly Rose.

You can check out the story via this video from brew day:

Disco Monks From Outer Space is only available for Crafty Cabal members in special packs featuring three cans, limited edition branded glassware and stubby holders. Details on how to order can be found by signing up or logging into The Crafty Cabal – and we're giving away two of those packs every day this week. One will go to an existing member and one to a new signup each day, with the winners drawn at random each day.

The first winners from Monday are Max Drakeley and Hilary Thwaites; we'll keep picking more each day through relaunch week.

Pre-sales for the beer – and new Cabal t-shirts we've designed – will close on November 30 so we can get packs sent out in time for a pre-Christmas online event for members with the collaborators.

Once they're in drinkers' hands, we're going to run another competition too: the person who writes the best review of the beer on social media – it could be the funniest, wittiest, weirdest, most heartfelt, most disdainful, whatever takes your fancy! – will win a year's membership and a Cabal t-shirt. Just make sure when you do, you tag @craftycabal and use the hashtag #craftycabal.

For more on what membership entails and the background to The Crafty Cabal and its recent relaunch, check out this story or head straight to the new look website.

Massive thanks to the Fixation and Molly Rose teams for agreeing to the brew and making such a delicious beer, to Cryer Malt for supplying the malt, East Coast Canning for doing us a deal on the cans and labels, and Alister Robbie of The Post Project for shooting the video.
