Cabal Update - 2.12.16

A whole year has passed since our subscription service, The Crafty Cabal, was launched into the beerosphere. In that time, we've given away well over $10,000 worth of festival tickets and beer to subscribers, poured 25 kegs at our events (not to mention that donated by others), and put up more than 100 offers for Cabalistas all across the country. Then there's the private tours, tastings and exclusive events just for Crafty supporters, all of which we wrapped up earlier this week.

But it ain't stopping any time soon. In fact, we're just getting started. And there's been more goodies added over the past fortnight too, as you'll see below.

Ballarat Beer Festival 2017

The Ballarat Beer Festival (pictured above) has been a summer highlight for Victorian beer lovers for the past five years, mixing a vast array of beers and brewers with live music, masterclasses and more.

It returns to the city the organisers prefer to refer to as Beerllarat on January 21, 2017, and we've lined up discounted tickets for existing Cabalistas and sweet signup bonuses for new members.

We've got 35 tickets discounted to $30, down from the usual price of $49. Just head to your Cabal member's area to put your name down for the ballot and you'll be contacted before Christmas if your entry was successful.

And if you've been thinking about signing up and live in Victoria, then now could well be the time. The first ten new signups after November 30 with a VIC postcode will receive a $69 Festival Essentials ticket, which includes admission and $20 of festival currency, as a welcome gift. How's that for a Christmas gift?

We'll be unveiling a big giveaway for the Melbourne BeerFest soon too so watch this space...

Get Quacking

Red Duck is back with another mixed 12 of its limited release beers. In keeping with the season, this one is aptly named "12 Days of Quacking".

And, like the Quack Packs for Cabalistas that sold out earlier in the year, it's coming to you at a special, Cabal only price of just $99 for 12 special release beers, all in 500ml bottles. This includes postage to your doorstep and is $20 than you'd pay at the brewery's cellar door.

The 12 bottles in the pack are:

  • Bandicoot Small Hoppy Ale
  • Neck*er Apricot Wheat
  • White Garden
  • Duck Punt Saison
  • Herr Duckshund's Munich Lager
  • Bikki Bikki Belgian Biscuit Bierre
  • City of Umber Brown Ale
  • Cousin Iti Hoppy Red
  • Ulysses Irish Stout
  • Big Licky Liquorice Stout
  • Hop Shark Hammerhead IPA
  • Hodor Hodor Imperial Porter

So, what are you waiting for? Get quacking! (NB: Close to half had sold at time of writing)

Competitions and Winners

Saison lovers rejoice! The season is upon us. And with that in mind, we've drawn the winner for our saison pack, which includes packs of saisons from Exit, Wolf of the Willows and Boatrocker. Congrats to Michael Walker of Sydney, who is Cabalista LXXVI. We'll have your saisons out to you before Christmas.

In Melbourne, we've chosen the grateful eight who will enjoy a tasting and brewer's talk with the team from Old Wives Ales this weekend before their birthday celebration at Carwyn Cellars. The winners are Dean Smith, Angus Norris, Mark Rochford, Raymond Burgess, Shawna Dominelli, Federico Rodriguez, Hayden Sam and Brett Elliott.

Finally, we've put up one more beery prize pack for the end of the year. And it comes with a festive theme:

  • A case of Red Hill Brewery's just released Christmas Ale 2016
  • A case of Doctor's Orders Tonic – a beer to mix with your gin on those long, hot summer evenings
  • And a mixed 24 from The Crafty Pint's own collection

Members can register for the ballot now. We'll pick winners mid January (as most of the Crafty team will be scattered around the globe over Christmas and New Year).

New Offers

We've also added three new deals for members to take advantage of – one in Victoria and two for Cabalistas in Queensland:

Finally, thanks to the team at Moon Dog for hosting the motley crew of Cabalistas for a private tour and tasting of the new brewery at the end of November. The vertical tasting of Jumping the Shark was a welcome surprise and we've received heaps oftexts and emails of thanks for the what sounds like a big night since; just a shame we were too thunderstorm asthma'd to be there in person...!

We'll be checking in  with one more of these updates before Christmas, so, until then, cheers to summer beers!
