Job Description: Packaging Operators

Brick Lane Brewing Co is an exciting new independent brewery, with global leading technology, located in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Brick Lane Brewing is recruiting packaging operations staff to run its world-class packaging lines, keeping the beer flowing!

You will be joining a group with deep experience in the brewing industry and backed by an eclectic group of supporters across beer, wine, hospitality, sports and media.

You’ll operate various machine centres in automated bottle, can and keg lines, performing quality checks, cleaning and maintaining equipment, maintain records, and working as part of a tight-knit team. At BLBC you’ll be working with the very best in brewing and packaging technology, enabling you to make world class beer.

Working in our fast-paced environment requires teamwork and collaboration skills, excellent communication, the ability to multi-task while maintaining an absolute focus on safety, quality and accuracy in process and record keeping.  Working in a brewery start-up environment takes pragmatism, resilience, and the initiative to build systems from the ground up – it is going to be a fun journey. You’ll form a core part of the BLBC community, and be a champion of beer quality, sustainability and continual improvement.

The position involves:

  • Championing the ‘Safety, Always’ culture of BLBC, and holding accountability for maintaining a safe brewing community
  • Rotating shift work, initially 2-shifts with some weekend and public holiday work.  Rotating night shifts will be required during peak periods
  • Packaging line operation, including operating fillers, conveyor systems, pallatisers, depallatisers and packers
  • Operator-led maintenance and cleaning, maintaining your machines in great working order for high availability
  • Implementation and of the GMP, food safety and quality management systems
  • Ensuring a clean and sanitary ‘showcase brewery’
  • Inventory and quality management of raw materials and finished goods
  • Maintain accurate documentation across several systems (on and offline)
  • Develop, review and revise and implement SOPs and One Point Lessons
  • Working collaboratively with brewing, cellar and quality departments

Your qualifications and experience will include:

  • More than one year's experience in FMCG packaging operations, preferably in a fast-paced production-brewing environment.  Experience in another relevant beverage packaging operations is also a plus.
  • Recognised packaging or brewing qualifications a plus
  • Great team work and positive, results-driven attitude
  • Forklift and driver’s licences
