JOB DESCRIPTION: PACKAGING MANAGER
We are seeking a dedicated Packaging Manager to join our Burleigh Brewing team.
Are you an experienced packaging operations manager? Can you drive the smooth and efficient running of our packaging operations? Are you capable of carrying out complex mechanical maintenance and repair work on bottling and packaging equipment? Around here, product quality is paramount. Can you demonstrate absolute commitment to the cause?
If so, you may be the person for us! You would be responsible for:
- Working as an active member of our packaging team in machine operation
- overall process oversight
- Quality standards of all packaging output
- Scheduling, managing and performance of the packaging team, providing supervision and leadership to permanent and casual staff
- Managing labour costs within budget
- Smooth operation of all packaging equipment, including trouble-shooting
- Responsibility for the preventative maintenance program on all packaging equipment and our tradewaste system
- Working collaboratively with our Warehouse & Logistics Manager to ensure efficient management and movement of inventory
- assisting with other general brewery repair projects, when required
You will be able to demonstrate:
- high mechanical aptitude
- an absolute and uncompromising commitment to quality
- understanding and experience in operating moderate speed filling and labelling machines (and associated equipment)
- a solid and current understanding and commitment to appropriate workplace behaviour and standards – including safety and HR
- a proven track record in effectively managing packaging operations and a packaging operations team
- ideally, an awareness and appreciation for the entire brewing process
- familiarity with cleaning and sanitising processes, including safe chemical handling
- you are an energetic self-starter who loves to find smarter ways to work
Science, engineering, brewing or trade background preferred. You must be a team player.
Your hours of work will vary but will generally fall between 6am and 7pm Mon-Fri, depending on operational, maintenance and management requirements.
The role will be reporting to the Brewmaster. This is a 'hands on' management role.
