Port Douglas based Hemingway's Brewery has been helping craft beer make inroads into far north Queensland for some time now.
Now the brewery needs a new brewer to help keep those beers coming out of its Reef Marina location.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: BREWER
Hemingway's Brewery is a Gastro Brewpub situated on the beautiful Reef Marina in Port Douglas. Hemingway's is the first of its kind in Far North Queensland and offers a relaxed vibe where you can enjoy handcrafted beers suited to the tropical climate and fresh local produce. Hemingway’s is also expanding with a newer and larger Brewpub due to open in Cairns on the waterfront in 2018.
We are looking for an enthusiastic brewer who is passionate about craft beer and willing to work as a team player to consistently produce innovative and quality products. You will report directly to the Head Brewer.
Qualities we are looking for:
- A team player who can actively support the Hemingway’s vision
- A strong work ethic and willingness to go the ‘extra mile’
- A high attention to detail
- A sense of humour and able to tell a good yarn whilst consuming your favourite Hemingway’s brew.
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Exceptional customer service focus
- Strong and healthy (work will involve heavy lifting)
- A willingness to participate with our beer festivals and other events
- Someone able to share their beer knowledge and passion with our customers.
You will have:
- Previous commercial brewing experience
- Ideally a recognized brewing qualification
- A science or engineering background would be advantageous
- A mechanically minded disposition
- A good understanding of Work Health & Safety
- Computer literacy
- A current RSA
