Since opening in 2015, the Athletic Club Brewery has been on a mission to bring local craft beer to the people of Ballarat. Now they're after an experienced brewer to help them continue on that journey.

JOB DESCRIPTION: HEAD BREWER

The Athletic Club Brewery is an independent family-owned brewery located in Central Ballarat with a genuine interest in the local community and all associated. As the newest addition to Ballarat’s growing craft brewing scene, we pride ourselves on our exceptional handcrafted, award-winning beers. We are currently looking for a passionate and knowledgeable individual to join our enthusiastic team in the role of Head Brewer. The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced in brewing, technically focused, and driven by quality results with a strong knowledge of brewery OH&S protocols and - most importantly - enjoy a froth!

YOU’LL NEED TO…

  • Have experienced-based knowledge and leadership of all the brewing process including (but not limited to) wort production, yeast handling, fermentation management, filtration and packaging
  • Undertake daily brewing, cleaning, cellaring and bottling operations
  • Perform quality control, ongoing maintenance and warehousing tasks
  • Assist with brewery tours, tastings and self-brewing sessions to offer visitors a completely immersive brewery experience
  • Support the Athletic Club Brewery brand and engage at external events
  • Work rotational shifts throughout the week/weekend as required

WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAD THESE QUALITIES…

  • Ability to adhere to original brew recipes as well as generate new and innovative recipes for production
  • Commitment to safe working practices and maintain sound knowledge
  • Strong problem solving capabilities and attention to detail
  • Organised with good time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to self motivate in both independent and team environments
  • Lead others to achieve quality brewing outcomes and be a strong team player 

WE’D JUST ABOUT HIRE YOU ON THE SPOT IF YOU HAVE..

  • Commercial brewing experience
  • Formal brewing qualifications
  • University degree and/or extensive and recent brewing experience
  • Know your way around a computer
  • Forklift Licence

Remuneration will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Successful applicants may be required to undergo police and medical checks.
