Sailors Grave is the East Gippsland brewery that's quickly made a name for itself by producing innovative beers showcasing local produce and wrapped in idiosyncratic cans. They're growing quickly and are on the hunt for an assistant brewer to help them meet demand.

JOB DESCRIPTION: ASSISTANT BREWER & PACK LEAD (VIC)

Looking for a tree/sea change?

The husband and wife team at Sailors Grave Brewing is looking for a self-motivated, flexible and hardworking person to join for our very small but fast paced brewery.

A good understanding of what we are and the beers we make is essential.

Brewery experience and/or a science or food technology qualification is desirable but not essential, but a passion for craft beer is non-negotiable.

The position will focus on all aspects of production brewing, canning, cellar work including transferring, cleaning and general brewery tasks. Keeping your finger on the pulse with what’s happening within the industry through new beer styles and brewing practices will be a definite advantage.

We are looking for a problem solver who focuses on efficiency improvement with a strong emphasis on quality control.

THE JOB

  • Performing all elements of general brewery tasks – brewing, cellar work including filtering, transferring, cleaning and packaging of our four core range beers and regular seasonal releases.
  • Providing support for the head brewer, being open to learning and development while applying your own flavour and insight into the systems.
  • Adhering health and safety directions and work schedules developed by our Head Brewer and developing and implementing your own where necessary.
  • Leading our small canning team, being in charge of casual staff, problem solving & trouble shooting on the go.

Necessary:

  • A demonstrated thorough understanding of the brewing process, including packaging.
  • Mechanically minded, problem solver.

Advantageous:

  • Tertiary qualification in brewing science from a recognised institute.
  • Fork lift licence preferred but not essential.
  • One year's experience in a commercial brewery.

This is a full-time position, typically Monday to Friday with occasional requirements for weekend work.

You must already have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this position.

The position is available for an immediate start.

Please forward your cover letter and CV to hello@sailorsgrave.net.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
