The Wheaty's 21st Birthday

It's official: The Wheaty is all grown up.

Since 2003 the iconic pub has played a key part in the rise of craft beer in Adelaide but its influence extends far, far beyond that, whether through its own increasingly successful and respected brewing arm, the events, collaborations and live local music it nutures, or simply as a de facto moral compass throughout the shoutier chapters of the independent brewing story in Australia.

So, with their 21st birthday approaching, you'll want to pay your respects with a visit to Thebarton.

Should you do so, you'll be rewarded with a taste of a special collaboration with their friends from Gladfield Malt. It's a many-months-in-the-making oak fermented XL Rye Stout they've described as having mellowed, but is still "not for the faint hearted". Sounds promising, right?!

They'll have food truck pizza action from Rolling Naples from 3pm, then Mark Curtis & the Flannelettes and Alana Jagt will be playing live in the Tin Shed from 4pm.

Kegs will be tapped from 2pm and – you know the drill – will only be on for as long as they last.
