In strides Phat Brew Club's Star Wars Day beer, Darth Lager, bringing with him a troop of sweet-flecked dark chocolate and Milo aromas, which dissolve into a taut base beer, each element held snug against the next as if by some intangible force… Toasty malt, bitter licks and liquorice hints meet a dry riposte in a delicious liquid duel that’s far, far away from abandonment or a litany of occupational health and safety workplace issues. But, hey, Death Stars don’t build themselves.
Back to the present day and, just months in from first swinging open the doors, the ethos of Phat is now bleeding from their new digs. Many start with an idea before soon realising there’s a lotta spinning plates that need to synchronise when it comes to building something which appears from the outside to be fully formed. Others get a little further along before the soul-searching kicks in, but for Phat the foundation was set from the beginning: they wanted to create a Culture Of Good Times, something that’s now available in liquid format.
Galaxy, El Dorado, Nectaron and Citra set an appropriate tropi-citrus vibe in this hazy IPA, with peachy stonefruit adding depth to the smooth swagger that indicates good times are indeed ahead!
