Tropical Coast Pale Ale holds a pleasant middle ground in the world of pale ales: it brings in more malt character than many tropical pales, while remaining super drinkable and pleasantly fruity.
Pour it into a glass and you may find it to be a deeper colour than expected – the use of caramalt and Vienna malt will do that. I found myself staring into this beer like I was looking into the hypnotic gold of a tiger’s eye gemstone.
But those malts know how to behave themselves. They bring just enough honeyed sweetness to hold up the Mosaic and Amarillo hop characters while still leaving a dry finish. Citrus and tropical fruit salad up front lead into a light bready aftertaste, with a sizzle of bitterness finishing off each mouthful.
